I’ve been a long time lover of matte liquid lips and ColourPop is usually my go-to. I love the formula and honestly, there’s no beating that price point. But what I’ve never tried from ColourPop are their pressed powders, super shock shadows, and their satin lip collection.

ColourPop has been releasing new collections in specific colour ranges throughout the month of March. The one that caught my eye was the Nectar collection. I’m usually drawn to neutral colours, but there was one coral shade in the “Blow Me Away” palette that I could not resist. It is absolute FIRE.

Today I introduce you to my new Spring must-haves…

Brown and blue-eyed girls beware, this palette will be your new favourite throughout the Spring and Summer months. This palette comes with four press powders, each complementing one another. These shades are super creamy, highly pigmented, and truly pack a punch. This palette is so versatile that you can easily take your day-time look to a fiery fierce look for a night out. From left-right: Take a Break, Issues, Centrefold, Slim Fit.

I’ve never tried any of the super shock shadows before, but I’ve always heard that the consistency takes a little bit of time to get used to. For instant colour pay off, use your finger to apply the shade to REALLY dazzle. This shade is so amazing and almost gives off a duo chrome finish. It’s a muted golden beige with blue reflex in it. A stunner for brown eyes.

Like the description says, I was part of the 30% already wearing it right after I got the package in the mail. For me, the picture was darker than the swatch on my lips, but still a very wearable nude even for the fairest ladies. It’s a beautiful, peach-nude colour that can easily be deepened with a grunge brown lip pencil. I loved the look with Spice by MAC. Since I’ve never tried the satin collection, I was really surprised at how comfortable it was. It lasted really well on the lips and I felt so much more comfortable with it on than I do with a matte lip. For $6, you can’t go wrong.

The big question, though. Is it worth it?

100 per cent YES. You can’t beat the price, especially for the pigmentation and good quality of the products. The total price of my purchase was $38.99, including $9.99 shipping to Canada. It was processed within the first day I placed my order, and I had my goodies within 5 days. I can’t wait to see what else ColourPop has in store for the summer.

What was your favourite from this haul? Do you want to see these bad boys in action? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Daylight savings?

More like, “daylight, where the hell did my last hour of sleep go?”

Some of us are still trying to catch that hour of sleep we’ve been missing. I seem to be needing more coffee on the ready at all times lately.

So how do you stay on top of deadlines and routines when you’re still trying to get used to the new sleeping schedule?

Here are 5 super easy and efficient ways to stay on track until we get into the new Spring routine!

Planning your weeks is really the simplest way to make sure you’re staying on top of deadlines. If you’ve been following my blog for a little while, you know how much I like to use my Happy Planner to keep track of school projects and appointments. I like to do my planning on Sundays because it’s a fresh start to the week and it’s actually really relaxing. You can find so many stickers on Etsy, but sometimes I even like to make my own. I’ve actually created a freebie that you can easily save and print out and use weekly in your planners! I take a lot of time to make these, so if you share, don’t forget to credit me 🙂

My best, and probably favourite, investment at the beginning of the school year was my sticker wall organizer. Writing down specific dates and appointments is one thing, but seeing it visually and colour coordinated is more efficient. What’s even better is how simple it is to put on your wall – peel and stick! It comes with a dry erase marker with eraser attached to the cap, but to make it more visually appealing I suggest investing in some colours to add that extra pop.

I swear the best part about Spring is Spring cleaning. Being able to declutter closets and dressers is 100 per cent true when it comes to decluttering your mind. Take a day out of the weekend, pick one part of your room (closet, dresser, whatever!) and make piles. If you find pieces you haven’t worn in years, and have no sentimental value to, make a charity pile. It’s amazing how good you’ll feel and how much more organized everything turns out to be.

Balancing work and play is probably one of the harder things to achieve. There’s nothing worse than putting your mind to finishing something and putting it off for the next week. If you plan to do something, stick to it. On the other hand, don’t be afraid to say no. Don’t overwork yourself. If you’re feeling stressed and like things are in disarray, there’s a good chance that you’re not taking enough time for yourself. Go out, socialize, or stay in and have a pamper night. Everything is always a work in progress, but take time out of the day to do things that you enjoy!

If your desk is at your office, or a spare bedroom in your house, keep your workspace clean. There’s nothing worse than having post-it’s and pen caps and paper clips rolling around everywhere on your desk when you’re trying to get work done. IKEA has some really cute plant pots that I actually use for holding makeup brushes and liquid lipsticks. These can easily make your desk look so organized and the pretty lace almost laser-cut detail brings that extra bit of chic to any workspace. Best part? $3.99.

Having the proper workout clothes and getting your stretches in is super important. But my favourite part of a workout is the playlist. I love any type of music that keeps me energized and mood-boosting songs. If you spend 75% of your planks and squats having a dance party instead of working out, you’re doing something sort of right!

Kidding. Sort of. Maybe…?

Working out doesn’t have to be a chore. Make a playlist that YOU enjoy and have fun doing it. It’ll instantly change your views on having to workout and it’ll start to be something you enjoy and look forward to.

For today’s post, I decided to create and compile the ultimate workout playlist. My music taste is all over the place – from country, to r&b, to ’80s, and pop – I like it all! I will say, I’m more of a country bumpkin, but, for the purpose of this blog post I’ll steer clear of the country crooners for you.

Feel free to follow me on spotify for some other playlists I’ve created: danyaox. Might I direct you to my “EARLY MORN DRIVES” playlist? If you have long commutes, and I feel for you and completely understand, this playlist will keep you awake, aware, and let your vocals truly shine. Passersby might think otherwise. YOU DO YOU, GF.

I’ve listed some of the songs I love to listen to while working out below, feel free to keep the list going! Let me know what songs get you pumped up for working out in the comments below 🙂 Don’t forget to share this freebie graphic and follow me on Spotify!

What are some of your favourite songs to workout to?

No gym membership? No problem!

If you’re like me and get winded by walking up a flight of stairs at school, you know you need to start working on getting back into a workout routine.

In the summer, I made a really good effort to workout 3-4x a week. And then school happened. And then no sleep happened. And then napping in workout clothes became more intriguing than actually using them for the purpose of working out. Am I right?

Everybody can attest to having a busy schedule, whether it’s working shifts or staying up late to get the final projects in before school ends. We all become so consumed with deadlines that just thinking about working out is sometimes tiring in itself. No judgements here, I’ve found myself getting up to workout and then binge watching Grey’s Anatomy in my workout clothes.

The days are getting longer now and there’s something about that little bit of extra sunshine in the day that motivates me to actually get up and move. I realize how bad that sounded after I typed it out, but if you haven’t experienced a bad Canadian winter, I envy you. I promise I’m not a complete sloth. Although, Cancer star signs are known for their impeccable sleeping in abilities. Blame the stars, girl!

I’ve come up with a workout routine that I try to stick to twice a week. It’s a mix of cardio and body toning that I’ve been absolutely loving. With Spring just around the corner – can I get a collective “YAAAAS” – feel free to take the cardio portion outside and breathe in that fresh air smell that we all know and love. Fresh cut grass anyone?

NOTE: This workout is something that I feel works best for me. Feel free to swap out anything you’re not comfortable with, or tone down the amount of reps for the workout. Working out is such a personal hobby so what may work for me, might not work for you. Be cautious and listen to your body. Don’t over-exert yourself. Remember to stay hydrated 30 minutes before and after your workout.

I’ve created an easy to follow graphic freebie for all of you to save on your phone or computer. If you decide to share it, please don’t forget to credit me 🙂

Keep in mind with the workout below, I worked my way up. In terms of a resistance band, I worked up to a 60lb resistance band. I initially started with 20lbs, so start small if you’re a beginner. Spread out the two days too by giving yourself a break day in between. The best part of an at-home workout is that you don’t even need to do both days right away. Start with one if that’s how you’re feeling. It’s all practice and what is most comfortable for your body.

Happy Spring Break, friends!

If I’m not catching up on those much needed ZzZ’s, I’m spending time relaxing and watching my favourites on TV. Current favourite? Bachelor! If you’re behind then SKIP THIS PARAGRAPH BECAUSE OF MAJOR SPOILERS.

Can we quickly talk about the final three? We all know that Rachel is the new Bachelorette, so it’s down to Raven and Vanessa. Although I’m a Canuck, I’m rooting for Raven. Who do you want Nick to give his final rose to?

So you’ve got your sweatpants, your messy bun, your popcorn, and your wine and you’re ready for the Women’s Tell All Monday night. I like to think of myself as a bit of a wine connoisseur when it comes to bargain hunting for that $10 bottle of the good stuff, but flavour pairings? I’m out!

SkinnyPop popcorn was kind enough to send us a quick, easy, and fool-proof graphic to show the best wines for the flavours of popcorn. All you have to do is pick your flavour of popcorn and then follow the map to see which wine pairs well with the flavour. It’s so easy you’ll be asking, “is this real life?”

The best part? SkinnyPop popcorn is loaded with fibre, made with all clean ingredients, and low in calories so you can enjoy your snack guilt-free. Grab that second glass of wine, there’s no calorie counting here!

Lately I’ve been loving the White Cheddar and Sea Salt and Pepper flavour combos, because can you really go wrong with wine and cheese? The answer is no and you get to indulge without the bloat. Check out SkinnyPop’s website to get some more flavour inspiration.

Big thanks to SkinnyPop for reaching out and sharing this graphic with me that I could pass onto all of you. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this graphic will come in handy whenever snacking strikes.

Don’t forget to tag me and SkinnyPop on instagram to show us how you’re pairing your wine and popcorn. What are some of your favourite TV shows to binge? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

You need this highlighter… | Drugstore Diamond

I’m sorry that I’ve been lacking in the blog department. School is picking up so fast right now, but I’ll  be done in just over a month and a half! Secondly, I realize my video didn’t embed in the last post… so stay tuned for that! I’ll give you an update when it’s embedded.

This past week I went to the drugstore to get the essentials: toothpaste, toothbrush, makeup remover…. AND THEN SOME. I know I’m not the only one who goes in for $7 toothpaste and ends up spending $40 after perusing the newest makeup.

I’ve been putting the new products to the test and if I’m honest… I found a few new favourites. So, I’m back with my DRUGSTORE DIAMOND series!

Enter a caption

Now if I’m honest, I’ve never considered using a cream cleanser to take off my makeup. But this beauty right here is basically your personal spa in a jar. My eyes are extremely sensitive so I take off my eye makeup with a wipe, but for the rest of my face I massage the cream cleanser into my face. Once my makeup is off, I wipe away the excess with a warm cloth. I LOVE this method (Thanks to my sister) because it literally feels like a steam oxygen face mask. My pores feel cleared, my face looks clean, and the cleanser is so moisturizing. If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know my favourite moisturizer is the Ponds Dry Skin Moisturizer. Put this on your face after using the cream cleanser and you’ll be glowing from within. Bonus – sometimes Walmart sells Ponds in a 2pack, so you can save some $!
I’m on the fence about this concealer. My undereye circles are extremely difficult to conceal, but I saw reviews on youtube and I figured I’d try it out. I love the formula of the concealer because it dries matte and is very easy to blend; however, the coverage is a little bit lacking. I would say this concealer is best for medium coverage, on days you’re not really worried about looking too glam. I have the colour Fair because the Light looked a little too pink, but I think I’m gonna go back and try the light colour after I’ve used this concealer. I really want to love it – especially for the price and the way it sits on the skin! Have any of you tried it? What do you think?
THE MOMENT YOU’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR. This gem is $5.49CAD and gives you the most ethereal, luminous, natural glow. Sometimes (and this happens very rarely, cuz girl I did not create my name for having a natural glow) I appreciate more natural highlighters. The shade is called 01 Be My Highlight. On initial swatch, I was worried it might be too peach for my complexion, but boy was I ever wrong. This is a beautiful champagne highlight and such good quality for the price point. Want to amp up the glow? Use Benefit Watts Up as a base layer to get an intense P O P.

I love finding new drugstore makeup, and with Spring right around the corner, drugstore makeup is stepping up their game.

What are some of your new favourites? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

I’ve been meaning to do a loose curls tutorial for the longest time, and if I’m honest, I think it took a little bit of self-confidence to bring me around to finally posting one.

If there’s one hairstyle I love, it’s loose, effortless, beachy hair. It gives off a subtle confidence, sophistication, and flirty vibe – everything you want for Valentines Day – even if you’re hanging out with your closest friends. Valentines Day doesn’t only have to be about a special someone – be confident for yourself!

Now that I’ve got my independent woman speech out of the way, let’s move on to what you actually came here for.

Bombay 25mm Rose Gold Curling Wand – Look for coupon codes on Instagram to save yourself some $!

Garnier Fructis Full&Plush Voluptuous Blow Out Treatment – I use the matching shampoo and conditioner and the scent and volume are so great.

Herbal Essences Set Me Up Max Hold Hairspray – A little goes a long way. Not crunchy and keeps your hair in place all day.

♡ Wide tooth comb – Any wide tooth comb will do, don’t feel the need to break the bank to get one!

Hopefully you liked this tutorial. I know it’s really simple, but with the loose base curls done, the options are literally endless of what kind of up-do or bun or ponytail you can do.

Whatever you do this Valentines Day, I hope it’s a good one and you treat yourself to a little something special. Even if that means buying yourself on sale cinnamon hearts. I will most likely be doing that.
